Tea Lovers Rejoice! How to Prepare a Matcha Latte on Your TK Machine


This might sound controversial coming from a coffee brand, but sometimes we like tea.

We love TK-01 and TK-02 for all the different café espresso drinks they can deliver with the touch of a button. But the amazing thing about this built-in versatility is that it extends beyond the coffee bean. We're all about bringing the coffee shop experience home, and since most coffee shops also offer tea, we’d be remiss if we didn’t share this exceedingly simple way to add tea to your one-touch caffeine rotation.

Let’s get into it:

Special Equipment

  • Terra Kaffe TK-01 or TK-02
  • Matcha bamboo whisk
  • Small sifter
  • Small bowl or mug


  • 1 teaspoon (2g) ceremonial grade matcha powder (we love Matchaful!)
  • Your milk of choice (we went with Malk almondmilk)
  • Ice (optional)
  1. Sift your matcha powder into your drinking vessel or small whisking bowl. Use the back of a spoon to press it through the sieve.

  2. Place directly underneath the hot water spout of our TK-01 or TK-02. Add 2 ounces of hot water. Matcha tastes best at 180° F; the hot water function on TK-01 defaults to this temperature by default. If using TK-02, simply change this value in machine settings.

  3. Use your bamboo whisk to incorporate the powder into the hot water fully. Continue to whisk in a z-pattern until no clumps remain and only tiny bubbles remain.

  4. If using a bowl, transfer whisked matcha mixture into your final drinking vessel. Stream steamed milk directly over top. Take a moment to appreciate the beautifully verdant color and enjoy! (For an iced version, add ice and milk to a glass before topping it with your whisked matcha.)
