Call us old fashioned, but holidays are for liquor and coffee. And you don’t go messin’ with tradition.
We’re back with another decadent coffee recipe perfectly suited for the cold autumn evenings. This cocktail pairs best with a wood fire, cozy blankets, and your favorite snack (we’re partial to peppermint bark this time of year).
We’re speaking, of course, about…
The Espresso Old Fashioned
Here’s what you’ll need to craft this coffee-spun classic at your home bar:
Special Equipment:
- Jigger
- Old fashioned or rocks glass
- Square ice cubes
- Terra Kaffe TK-01
Ingredients:
- 2 oz. fresh espresso (room temperature)
- 1 oz. bourbon
- 0.5 oz. maple syrup
- 2 dashes of bitters (orange or Angostura will do)
- orange peel
Directions:
Pour the maple syrup into the bottom of your glass and sprinkle with the bitters. Add the espresso and mix to incorporate.
Place the ice cube in the glass and mix vigorously to chill the coffee/syrup mixture. Top with the bourbon and stir vigorously once more.
Run the orange peel along the entire rim of the glass before dropping into the cocktail. Orange you glad you added coffee to your old fashioned?
