The Americano has met its boozy match
Despite the name, this original creation is not to be confused with the Americano, a cocktail made with vermouth and Campari. Rather, this drink is inspired by the magnificent simplicity of the café version, made of espresso and water. Amaro is added for some extra bite and to brighten up the exquisite bitterness of the coffee and lemon, a winning combo in any scenario.
The Amarocano 🍋
Special Equipment:
- Mixing glass with strainer
- Jigger
- Terra Kaffe TK-01
Ingredients:
- 2 oz. amaro*
- 2 oz. espresso
- 1 oz. simple syrup
- club soda
- lemon rind
*Definitely go with a dark amaro here, not a red one. We like Forthave, Averna, Meletti, Tosolini, or Cyanar. With these, you get a slightly bitter flavor with complementary notes of caramel, chocolate, and mint. Pairs perfectly with coffee!
Directions:
Mix amaro, espresso, and simple syrup in the mixing glass with ice.
Fill a tumbler or low-ball glass with ice and strain in the cocktail. Top with a few ounces of club soda.
Express the oils of a lemon rind over the drink and drop in.
